The Steall Falls Walk is widely-reported as one of the best short walks in Scotland. It is perhaps impossible to do so but if you could you would reach the highest point of the British Isles. It is Scotland's second highest waterfall with a single drop of 120 metres and well worth the effort of climbing through the gorge to sit and observe it. You might balance on rope bridges strung high above the ground, swing like Tarzan from tree to tree (you don’t have to wear a leopard-print costume, but it helps), tiptoe across a tricky traverse on rings, and whizz down a thrilling zip wire. I was travelling down from Durness in the very far north-west of Scotland to Crianlarich and looking for a couple of short walks to fill my planned breaks during the driving journey throughout the day. The danger comes from the fact that it would only take one slip and you could go over the edge of the canyon; the warning sign at the trail head is also very much real, as people have died.I'm not saying it's impossible to do this trail without walking boots, as I saw plenty of people in trainers, flip-flops and even a man wearing leather brogues! The rocky sections of the trail are very much at the minor end of the scale in terms of technicality, so it's only real those who are not able-bodied, young children and elderly that wouldn't be able to do it.
